Camp Palm Springs

Welcome to the fourth installment of the Resort Report. This time we are visiting CAMP PALM SPRINGS. The Camp, which opened at its present location on Memorial Day weekend in 1998, has long been a favorite of visitors and locals alike. For those of you looking to get away to the desert this is the place to be. The weather is good, the men and the Jacuzzi are hot, the pool is cool, the days are lazy and the nights are fun. Camp Palm Springs is one of the hottest gay resort/ hotels in the Palm Springs area. The resort boasts an Olympic sized pool set amidst the completely private landscaped grounds where it is always clothing optional and you can get that all over tan.

The large shamrock Jacuzzi situated just above the pool can easily accommodate 12 people.

The resort has 28 rooms with either one king size or two queen size beds.

A large breakfast is served in the Officer’s lounge every morning. While in the Officer’s Lounge relax on the comfy sofas while reading the morning paper or watching the large screen TV (complete with DISH network satellite). For those so inclined to entertain there is a Baldwin “F” Grand piano just waiting to be played.

All rooms have cable TV and DVD/VCR, wireless WIFI, air-conditioning, private baths, digital phones (with private voice-mail), refrigerator, microwave, daily maid service, and in-room coffee service. The hotel also offers a covered, outdoor workout area with an all-in-one machine, free weights and a treadmill. After pumping up in the workout area you can relax in the steam room to soothe those aching muscles before beginning an evening of fun in town or at the resort although you may choose to take advantage of the on-campus massage therapist that is available daily. Or you might just want to check out the CAMP’s world famous video playroom, which like the other amenities are open 24-Hours

The office is open 24 hours a day Wednesday thru Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday the office is open from 7am-11pm. Day and night passes are available if you only have a short time to visit and would like to use the facilities or if you would like to stop by after dancing the night away to relax in the Jacuzzi.

The Resort is only a short 2-hour drive from Los Angeles or San Diego. For those visiting from farther away you will find that the resort is only 5 minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport. Unfortunately, due to increased airport security they are unable to provide airport pick-up/drop-off services at this time. The resort is located in North Palm Springs at the base of the majestic San Jacinto Mountains. Since the resort is centrally located you will find yourself only minutes away from the many gay bars in Palm Springs, as well as the many wonderful gay & gay-friendly restaurants.
